Martial set for AEK Athens move after Man United exit

Former Manchester United forward Anthony Martial is set to complete a permanent transfer to Greek Super League side AEK Athens.

Martial, who left United earlier this year following the expiry of his contract, will arrive in Greece later on Wednesday and sign a deal reportedly worth £2.5million per season.

The Frenchman s contract will see him become the Greek side s top earner and surpass former Tottenham man Erik Lamela, who joined the club in July.

Martial arrived at Old Trafford in 2015 for £36m, with his move the highest transfer fee paid for a teenager.

He marked his debut with a goal in a 3-1 victory over Liverpool, and went on to score 17 goals in 49 appearances in all competitions during his debut year with the Red Devils.

World Cup 2018: Iceland sail home, Volgograd visited & Belgium book in

The second week of the World Cup in Rostov-on-Don began with the city s feverish support for their adopted team, Iceland.

Having three Iceland internationals on the books of FC Rostov ensured the locals would be backing Heimir Hallgrimsson s men against Croatia, but the Nordic underdogs were unable to progress to the round of 16.

Omnisport s team on the ground took the opportunity of a break ahead of the knockout stages to visit Volgograd by sleeper, where the city s tragic history proved a fascinating prelude to Poland s 1-0 win over Japan.

That result ensured the Samurai Blue would be heading to Rostov for the round of 16, and Belgium were later confirmed as their opponents, with the two teams now set to do battle on Monday.

Along with the football, we …

Al-Nassr 1-1 Al-Ahli: Toney denied winning start by late own goal

A Bassam Al-Hurayji own goal in the 100th minute of the match handed Al-Nassr a 1-1 draw against Al-Ahli and denied Ivan Toney a winning start to life in Saudi Arabia.

Franck Kessie looked to have won all three points for Al-Ahli with a wonderful effort from the outside of the box after 57 minutes, but Al-Nassr s pressure was rewarded late on when Al-Hurayji diverted Sultan Alghannam s cross into his own net.

The home side started the match well, with Sadio Mane seeing an early effort cleared off the line and Marcelo Brozovic testing Edouard Mendy from distance, but they were unable to find a way through in the first half.

Kessie had gone close just after the break, dragging his shot wide of the far post, but he was not to be denied a second time. He met a pullba…

Kane equals Lineker to send England into Euro 2020 final

Harry Kane equalled Gary Lineker as England s joint-highest goalscorer in major tournaments as he propelled the Three Lions into the Euro 2020 final.

Kane scored on the rebound after having a penalty saved by Denmark goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel in extra-time at Wembley on Wednesday.

It made it 2-1 to England, with Simon Kjaer s own goal having cancelled out Mikkel Damsgaard s opener.

Schmeichel got down to his left to keep out a relatively tame spot-kick – which was won contentiously by the excellent Raheem Sterling – yet the rebound fell kindly to Kane, who coolly tucked in his 10th goal in a major tournament.

That tally brings the England captain level with Three Lions great Lineker.

All of Kane s major-tournament goals have come with his …

Barcelona 2018-19: How Valverde serenely steered Catalans to another LaLiga title

Ernesto Valverde has led Barcelona to the title in LaLiga for the second season in a row, but their coach remains something of an enigma.

While former Barca bosses such as Pep Guardiola had huge personalities that came to dominate Camp Nou, Valverde is completely the opposite.

Saying little of interest to the media indicates Valverde likes to keep his cards close to his chest, but there is no doubt he has done a fine job since joining from Athletic Bilbao.

Barca may take winning trophies for granted nowadays but, with Valverde s men through to a Copa del Rey final against Valencia, back-to-back doubles is a serious possibility.

And with Barca in the Champions League semi-finals, Valverde may yet write his name into the history books by leading the club to…

China coach downplays hopes for 2011 Asian Cup

Despite improved play in recent months by China s beleaguered football team including a draw with Paraguay this week, the national coach has urged fans to lower expectations for next year s Asian Cup.

In friendly tune-ups for the January tournament in Qatar, China lost to Iran 2-0 last week, but tied World Cup quarter-finalists Paraguay 1-1 on Tuesday in front of 30,000 fans in Nanjing.

Borussia Dortmund forward Lucas Barrios drew first blood in the opening minutes to give Paraguay a 1-0 lead, before China s youthful striker Gao Lin headed home the equaliser in the 34th minute.

Paraguay is a world-class team we played well today and we succeeded in containing their attack, coach Gao Hongbo said in post-match comments.

It was not so important to win or …

NFL Underdogs: Jason Logan’s Favorite Picks for Week 3

Be curious. Not judgmental.

The quote is attributed to Walt Whitman, but it’s been made famous by the popular comedy series “Ted Lasso”, which took home Tom Brady-like hardware at the Primetime Emmy Awards last weekend.

Be curious. Not judgmental.

It sounds like the perfect mantra for making the best NFL underdog bets each week.

But that’s not my point. My point is Whitman never said it.

Despite blind public opinion and a slew of Wayfair-peddled products — like mugs and folky wall plaques — that feature the quote next to Whitman’s name, English scholars can’t find any evidence of attribution anywhere.

My point is don’t just believe something because it’s on a mug, or a shirt or a…

Eagles vs Buccaneers Wild Card Prop Bets and Same-Game Parlay: TB and Gronk Reconnect

The defending Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers host the Philadelphia Eagles in the Wild Card round of the NFL playoffs this Sunday.

The Bucs will look to take care of business as 8.5-point favorites but things could get messy with inclement weather expected. There’s a high chance of rain in Tampa Bay on Sunday along with 20 mile per hour winds, which has seen this total plummet from an opening number of 49.

With both teams surely factoring this into their gameplans we try to find the best betting angles with our free player prop picks for the Eagles vs. Buccaneers.
